IBM JOINS BANKING TECHNOLOGIES TO SET UP CLEARING SYSTEM

By CBR Staff Writer

A computerised bank clearing centre is to be set up in Moscow following an ag-reement signed in May between IBM Corp and Banking Technologies, a recently founded consortium. The partners plan to offer services to commercial banks needing to set up their own clearing centres. IBM will supply the equipment, software, installation and servicing. Banking Technologies will adapt IBM’s software to the Russian environment and issue reference materials and publications on banking automation. The new venture plans to offer commercial banks clearing services for between 2m and 2.5m roubles. Charges for connection to the system installed at the computerised banking centre could be as little as 200,000 roubles.
