IBM JAPAN TO EXPAND SEMICONDUCTOR PLANT IN YASU, JAPAN

IBM Japan is to expand its semiconductor plant in Yasu in Japan to accomodate manufacture of 1M-bit dynamic memory chips: the company has had to supplement supply from its US parent with parts from Toshiba Corp and Hitachi Ltd, and the fact that IBM is opening a new line is being read as a sign that its personal computers are going well in Japan.
