IBM JAPAN RECRUITS 200 EMPLOYEES FROM DEFUNCT BANK

IBM Japan Ltd is to hire 200 employees from an affiliated company of the defunct Hokkaido Takushoku Bank Ltd in which IBM also has a stake, according to the Nihon Keizai Shimbun newspaper. IBM will take on the employees from information technology firm System Frontier Co. Hokkaido Takushoku owned 65% of System Frontier, and IBM the rest. Earlier this month, Electronic Data Systems Corp took on the 600 strong information technology workforce of another failed bank, Yamaichi Securities Co Ltd.
