Another new joint venture for IBM Japan is with Nippon Information & Communications, which has formed NI&C International, whose main business will be to market value-added communications services from MCI International, notably its electronic mail system: NI&C has put up 39.0% of the capital, BM Japan 20.5% and 40 other companies such as banks and securities companies the 40.5% balance; the new company will begin to provide service between the US and Japan from mid-February, using the Venus-P packet switched network.
