While its US parent keeps followers guessing about its plans to replaced the failed Convertible with a more competitive laptop, its Japanese subsidiary is already out with an 80286 laptop in its PS/55 equivalent of the PS/2 line. The 5535M18 has 1Mb memory, 20Mb hard disk, numeric keypad and mouse, weighs 17 lbs at the equivalent of $4,500.
