Stet SpA and IBM Italia SA are hoping to reach definitive agreement on co-operation this summer, the president of IBM Italia revealed.The collaboration, which has been in the wind for two or three years, will involve any share exchanges or investments. He gave no further details, but it was reported earlier this year that Stet and IBM were trying to put together a global and strategic alliance in the area of telecommunications, which could include making joint applications to become the second telephone operators in countries whose closed markets are to be opened up to com petition, a sector in which IBM has hitherto not shown any interest.
