IBM INTENDS TO “DISCOUNT AGGRESSIVELY” TO SCHOOLS

By CBR Staff Writer

As for pricing on the PS/2 Model 25, IBM said Tuesday that We intend to discount aggressively to schools: the expectation is that discounts will run to 40%, bringing the colour version down to $1,017 and mono to about $800, but the New York Times quickly reached the conclusion that IBM still does not look as if it is ready for the economic realities of the classroom, where Apple has 58% of the market, mainly with the II, and Tandy has 17%, and schools may like the IBM spec but they buy on price.
