IBM is installing a property system for Resolution Trust Corp, the company charged with clearing up the Savings and Loan fiasco, but the chief auditor of federal government spending says it may be incompatible with Resolution’s other computer systems: the $14m contract awarded to IBM is to implement and operate a system tracking $16,700m of property assets; the contract raised a few eyebrows prior to the auditor’s remarks, and losing bidders have remarked on the value when competing bids were as high as $250m; the two-year award to IBM and subcontractor Andersen Consulting, includes four years of potential extensions totalling $10.2m.
