For those that are complaisant about sticky fingers – and even those that aren’t – IBM Corp has launched the PS/2 TouchSelect for 14 Displays, which can be installed by a customer to bring touch screen operation to the 8512 Display or to the 8511, 8515, and 8518 Displays: the feature attaches easily to the displays and touch screen device drivers are supplied to support touch operation with MS-DOS, OS/2 1.X and Windows 3.X – OS/2 2.0 has touch screen drivers included; available on Friday, it uses a pressure transducer technology so that any touch input medium a stylus rather than a finger, for instance, can be used, and programmers can write applications that respond to pressure as well as horizontal and vertical position;it’s $630 plus $50 a year support.
