Meantime IBM accompanied US launch of the 3090Es with a new model in its 4248 impact line printer line: the 4248 Model 002 provides comparable print quality to the 001 at 4,000 lpm against 3,000 lpm of the 001, and produces print density on multi-part forms equivalent to that of the 3211 printer; it also allows up to 20 job sets to be stored for instant recall: designed as a replacement for the 3211, 4245, 3203 and 1403 printers, it will be available next month in the US at $475,000, and will also be offered as a field upgrade to 001s.
