IBM is already fabricating test runs of the 4M-bit dynamic random access memory chip that it described yesterday at the International Solid State Circuits Conference – but needless to say won’t speculate on when it might start turning up in the company’s products: the company says that the new part has a surface area 35% greater than that of its 1M-bit chip, and a time to access one bit of 65nS compared with 80nS.
