IBM GIVES DETAILS OF SYSTEMS APPLICATIONS ARCHITECTURE

By CBR Staff Writer

IBM has been talking some more about its revolutionary Systems Applications Architecture, first details of which appeared a couple of weeks before Christmas (CI No 586): details are as given then – a framework that will provide a consistent user interface across all IBM systems from the Personal through mid-range 36s and 38s to mainframes – right down to the same key being used for the same function on all systems, and a single set of programming procedures for developing – portable – applications on any mainstream IBM system; Systems Applications Architecture will embrace SNA, and further details will be announced later this year.
