IBM is getting so serious about multi-media computing that it has formed a new Multimedia & Education Division out of units previously part of the Academic, General and Public Sector Division. Lucie J Fjeldstad will be the first president of the new unit, which will be responsible for the strategic direction of multi-media market development and US marketing of products including industry and cross industry applications. It will continue to focus on education. What’s left becomes the General & Public Sector Division with responsibility for developing and marketing products and services for the transport, public sector, utilities, health, communications, media, business and mangement services.
