IBM EXPECTED TO USE INMOS CLUTs IN GRAPHICS SUBSYSTEM FOR NEXT GENERATION OF PERSONAL COMPUTER

Better late than never, the Financial Times has picked up on our November story that Thorn EMI’s Inmos unit has a large order from IBM for its Colour Look-Up Table chips (CI No 561), so we’d better repeat it: the story has not actually moved on since last time, because there is still no formal confirmation that the customer is IBM, but the company is expected to use the $20m of Inmos CLUTs in the graphics subsystem for the next generation of Personal Computer.
