In a move that is causing consternation among much of the IBM Corp mainframe fraternity, the company is expected to announce today that it is tearing up its mainframe price list worldwide it has been a thing of the past in the UK for two or three years now – and will make a special bid, typically bundling software and services, to each customer, making it harder – although hardly impossible – for customers to compare notes and work out whether they got a bargain or were ripped off; discounts have been running at 50% and even more.
