At the other end of the scale, IBM is now expected to choose its favourite end-March, beginning of April date for launch of those two new Personals that had been expected in January: recapping, at the bottom is an 8MHz 8086 machine aimed primarily at the schools market, at the top is a new 80286 machine that is designed to recapture the hearts and minds of the corporate world by including SNA LU 6.2 communications on the motherboard so that the thing becomes inter alia a 3270 display with local processing – and Advanced Program-to-Program Communications support; both machines are expected to use primarily 3.5 disk drives.
