IBM Corp announced Monday that it has expanded its Aptiva line of home PCs, with the introduction of eight new models in the series; the E, L and S. The E series is a line of low-priced multimedia systems aimed at the first-time buyer with prices starting at $1,200. The L series offers Intel Corp’s Pentium II processors up to 300MHz and are billed as multi-purpose family PCs. Standard features include a DVD-ROM II drive, advanced 3D graphics capabilities and a host of educational and learning software. The S series models are designed to offer high- performance coupled with the space-saving split system design. They feature Pentium IIs, SDRAM, the ATI 3D Rage Pro Graphics processor, DVD-ROM II drives and Bose sound systems. Software includes voice-enabled Netscape Navigator and the RingCentral home communications system.
