IBM DOWN TO 7 IN 1986 POLL OF MOST HIGHLY-REGARDED COMPANIES

Nothing like kicking a company when it’s down is there? According to Fortune magazine’s annual survey of the most highly-regarded companies in corporate America, IBM, which has held top spot for the past four years, slumped to seventh place in the 1986 poll, being succeeded at the top of the tree by diversifying pharmaceuticals maker Merck & Co.
