IBM Corp may be among the worst companies for not telling the press when a news story contains a technical error, but it’s quick to jump on any error that relates to internal operations: of the bulletin board set up by a couple of low-level managers to enable their colleagues to let off steam, the Wall Street Journal wrote After about a week the managers decided that this Democracy Wall had gone far enough and closed it down, erasing the files from the central computer – but several employees have helped piece together a nearly complete copy; last week the Journal had to run a correction – International Business Machines Corp said an internal electronic bulletin board that let employees comment on the company’s recent problems was in operation for a month, not ‘about a week’…. In addition, IBM said the bulletin board wasn’t erased; it was removed to a different part of the computer system but was still accessible.
