IBM Corp says it is not aware of any of what it calls counterfeit memory in 3090s in Europe and declines to speculate on whether it would provide support to customers in Europe with IBM maintenance contracts if such memory turned up in their 3090s: the issue is a live one because despite the fact that IBM is unaware of it, our sources say that at least one big US-owned company (not Comdisco Inc) is doing it in Europe and that there’s almost certainly more IBM memory reconfigured by third parties in Europe than in the US, and that some has been shipped back to the US, making customers there nervous.
