IBM Corp’s Aurora cut of OS/2 Warp server targeted for e-business ships this week with SMP support, a Journaled File System, volume management, support for Euro currency and is claimed to Y2K proof. It can manage Windows NT servers with OS/2 domains, has an I20 intelligent architecture input/output device driver and comes with the WebSphere 1.1 application server package. Version 2 of the OS/2-based Workspace On-Demand client ships at the end of the month priced at $1,000. Customers are due an early 1999 upgrade that provides booting and management for 32-bit Windows clients. Also new is Java 1.1.6, Communicator 4.04, DHCP booting that enables the client to boot using IP, and enhanced application installation tools.
