John Akers is fast running out of fingers to plug all the holes in the IBM Corp dyke, and the Wall Street Journal reports that the company’s get tough policy with people in the US that hoard their holiday entitlement and take it as a big pay-off when they leave is causing some very awkward side effects: seems that managers are generally taking their accrued entitlements to give themselves long weekends, so that it is impossible to schedule a meeting for Friday or Monday – and no-one can get to speak to a manager on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday because they’re all tied up in meetings…
