IBM Corp reports that it has now completed its acquisition of Metaphor Computer Systems Inc, Mountain View, California, and that the company is now a wholly-owned subsidiary, which is chartered to integrate its Data Interpretation Systems capabilities with complementary IBM capabilities; the system combines a graphical user interface with relational data base technology to help non-technical business professionals to access multiple data bases and to construct their own applications; employees of Metaphor that were assigned to the Patriot Partners joint venture established by IBM and Metaphor will either be offered jobs with Taligent, the object-oriented systems software, or Kaleida, the multimedia joint ventures with Apple Computer Inc, or remain with Metaphor.
