IBM, COMPAQ & APPLE OFFER MISLED MONITOR CUSTOMERS REBATES

By CBR Staff Writer

The phrase size isn’t everything may work in a lot of cases, but not, it would seem, for computer monitors. Major vendors are having to offer rebates to millions of customers claiming to have been misled over the size of screens, in a class action ruling by a San Francisco Superior Court. The complaint alleged that manufacturers confused consumers about screen size by not setting a measurement standard and the settlement means buyers can get up to a $13 cash rebate on new purchases of $250 or more. The liable parties include IBM Corp, Compaq Computer Inc and Apple Computer Inc.
