IBM COMMISSIONED BY DELPHI TECHNOLOGY TO MANUFACTURE AUTOMATED PHOTO MACHINE

IBM has been commissioned by photo-processor Delphi Technology Inc, Atlanta, to manufacture automated photo machines for Delphi, which will design the interactive multimedia merchandising kiosk for IBM to manufacture at its facility in Charlotte, North Carolina: the self-service systems will feature touch screens so that customers can easily process their orders 24 hours a day seven days a week – sounds great, doesn’t it, pop in your film and out come your pictures but no, the downer is the next sentence, which reads Film will be sent twice daily to Delphi’s Processing and Distribution Centres and returned to the kiosk overnight – might as well pop them in to Boots or Virgin; payment will be by cash, cheque or credit card, and the first version will use a PS/2 and IBM multimedia technology and will also dispense promotional cou
