By CBR Staff Writer

During the bustle of UniForum IBM announced that the National Bureau of Standards had chosen it to develop the conformance testing procedures for the IEEE-developed Posix portable Unix standard (CI No 865). The development work will be done on an IBM RT running IBM’s implementation of Unix – AIX. Palo Alto, California-based Mindcraft Inc has been helping IBM with the development work and will now act as a consultant to the NBS. The IBM development efforts to date have concentrated on the: P1003.1 – system service interface and P1003.2 – shell and application utilities; components of the Posix standard.
