IBM CHOOSES LAN FROM SYTEK FOR US ARMY PROJECT 80X

And IBM has chosen a secure local area network from its PC Network partner Sytek Inc, Mountain View, California for its subcontract on the US Army Project 8OX – Phase II development, which runs for nine and a half years and covers management of military personnel records and assignments worldwide: Sytek’s LocalNet 2000 will connect IBM Personals and PS/2s in three cities – Alexandria, Vitginia; St Louis, Missouri; and Indianapolis, Indiana, and Sytek will also supply backbone linking products to interconnect the individual sites in a single, large network; the main site, in Alexandria, will use fibre and broadband cable to link micros as economically as possible consistent with traffic and security.
