Venetica’s software searches unstructured content such as business documents, still images, digital media and web pages for integration into existing business processes.
Venetica’s products will be integrated with IBM’s DB2 Information Integrator family, while personnel will be added to the information integration group within IBM’s information management software group.
IBM said the deal would help reduce the cost and complexity of business initiatives, such as improving customer service, complying with government regulations and consolidating operations in the wake of a merger.
The purchase follows recent acquisitions of Informix, Trian Software, Green Pasture Software, CrossAccess, and Alphablox. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
