IBM is getting litigatious again, this time alleging that American Micro Technology is infringing its trademark by using the Charlie Chaplin Little Tramp character in its ads; the suit also alleges violation of IBM’s trademarks on three of its computers, the AT, XT and the defunct PCjr – American has named two of its computer lines ATjr, and XT-plus, the suit declares: a branch manager for the Tustin, California company was unimpressed by the merits of the suit, saying the company phased out the XT model due to low demand, and that the name of the ATjr had been changed to AMTjr; as well as a restraining injunction, IBM seeks an accounting of all profits attributable to the use of the disputed symbols and is demanding those profits be turned over.
