Officials at the newly merged company said the XQuery program was still in beta phase (it has been since December last year) and that there’s still work to do there.

XQuery is a new query language under development at the W3C (a standards body for the world Wide Web) for accessing XML types of data, including structured and semi-structured documents, databases and object repositories.

IBM Ascential says the standard read-only support for XQuery is not enough and is planning more advanced support across multiple components of its stack. Expect to see XQuery support in WebSphere Information Integrator [II], DB2 and possibly Content Manager products, officials said.
