Latest intelligence on IBM Corp’s September 1 plans indicate that the company’s RAID offering for the AS/400 will use a new 9337 disk subsystem, with the RAID versions dubbed High Availibity models – but they won’t be available at all immediately, although IBM does hope to get some installed by the end of the year: the straight 9337 will be a rack with four 3.5 drives with a choice of four capacities in it, the highest per drive being 970Mb; the minimum RAID configuration is expected to be 10 drives; IBM will also announce on September 1 that the new release of OS/400 will be ready for shipment on September 18, three months earlier than had been announced at the February launch.
