IBM APPOINTS INSIDERS ZISMAN, PAPOWS TO RUN LOTUS

By CBR Staff Writer

IBM Corp moved swiftly to stem the bleeding at Lotus Development Corp, naming two Lotus insiders to run the subsidiary. Michael Zisman and Jeffrey Papows will form a new office of the president, replacing Jim Manzi. Both are senior vice-presidents in Lotus’s communications business. Zisman was named executive vice-president and chief executive and Papows was named executive vice-president and chief operating officer. They will report to IBM senior vice-president John Thompson. IBM also said that Robert Weiler, senior vice-president of its desktop business group and international sales, has resigned, but a Lotus spokesman said John Landry, chief technology officer, remains with Lotus, although industry sources told Reuters on Friday that Landry is poised to follow Manzi out, possibly within a week. He is currently working on an integrated strategy for the Internet.
