IBM Corp settled on New York City’s monumental and restless and bustling Grand Central Station (not the concourse, presumably) to launch its answer to Microsoft Corp’s Windows for Workgroups. Its peer-to-peer version of OS/2 Warp is called Connect, and it includes built-in requesters for IBM LAN Server and Novell Inc NetWare, and can co-exist with LAN Server, NetWare, Windows NT and Windows for Workgroups, Vines and LANtastic. It comes with built-in peer-to-peer networking, a BonusPak of productivity software and Notes Express. It will ship with TCP/IP for OS/2 Version 3 with a complete set of applications for browsing the World Wide Web, mail and file transfer. OS/2 Warp Connect will initially ship in a blue spine version with IBM Win-OS/2 for $300 and will be available through IBM Direct for $215. There is a limited time $25 rebate for OS/2 2.1 users.
