Following the recent flurry of price cuts in the laser printer market CI No 3,167), IBM Corp has announced it will also ‘take pricing action’ on its Network Printer 17 range, on top of cuts already made to its other models. The company also confirmed its new pricing strategy would extend to both European and US markets. The company’s IBM Network Printers refused to comment on the profitability of the current moves, saying only that they were a competitive reaction, indicative of a much more competitive marketplace. IBM said it sees the laser market going the way of the inkjet market, where companies need to move quickly and be aggressive in order to be a player.
