This new platform is built on the principles of service oriented architecture and combines Nortel’s core applications with IBM’s collaboration software and middleware. The platform will initially target healthcare and retail companies.

Under the terms of the partnership, IBM WebSphere Application Server will be integrated with Nortel’s software-based solution foundation environment. This will allow both the companies to create SOA-based communications-enabled applications and business processes.

Both the companies expect that through this integration, businesses will be able to add communication and collaboration offerings.
