IBM Entry Systems president William Lowe also told the analysts IBM was confident that worldwide deliveries of its new Personal System/2 line will reach one million units by the end of the month. In June, IBM was saying that it had shipped 250,000 PS/2s and that there was a backlog of about 500,000 orders. Lowe also told the analysts that IBM expects 1987 to be a record year for pers-onal computer sales in the US – but the whole market is currently so buoyant that some observers believe that IBM’s share of the market is nevertheless declining (CI No 780).
