Among the other items in the grab-bag announcement was a new 24-pin serial matrix printer, the IBM Proprinter 24P, claimed to do excellent letter-quality printing and bidirectional alignment, in addition to high-resolution graphics printing. It runs at up to 160chps at 10 characters per inch, 192chps at 12cpi and is $500, now. And new Configuration Support-B Release 4 Licensed Internal Code for the 3174 works in conjunction with the 3270 Port Expansion Feature to increase the 3270 Category-A device capacity to 64 from 32 terminals. It also provides enhancements to ASCII session security, X25 data transmission, on-line tests, and Data General Dasher 210 emulation. There is also a 4Mb mem ory expansion feature on large 3174s, taking memory to 6Mb, and a new rack- mountable 3174 Model 23R that provides Token-Ring support. All at end-March.
