IBM Corp has expanded services on its Information Network in the US, and set a new pricing plan. The Enhanced Network Services bundle offers fixed-price options for leased-line connections to the Information Network from one or more customer locations with no additional network traffic or common carrier charges. Leased line connections for Systems Network Architecture host and network attachment, Systems Network Interconnect, SNA 3270, SNA Remote Job Entry, Advanced Peer-To-Peer Networking and X25 are now available fixed-price options. The IBM Information Network will also participate in a field trial for transmitting data over cellular links this summer – the CelluPlaN II will seek out idle channels in cells to transmit data without interrupting standard cellular telephony, and allows for data transmission at speeds up to 19.2Kbps. The Enhanced Network Service offerings will be generally available in September. The Information Network has also launched international X25 and Advanced Peer-to-Peer Networking services from the US. International X25 Communication will be available on a commercial basis from next month, with APPN a month later; both will be offered on a country-by-country basis.
