IBM ADDS LISP TO ITS MVS EXPERT SYSTEM SHELL

By CBR Staff Writer

IBM has added a Common Lisp Environment to the Expert System Environment for MVS/TSO users it announced last year (CI No 417), and like the Expert System product it comes in two parts, a Development and an Applications environment. IBM has also added the facility for artificial intelligence applications to access SQL-based databases – but users have to write their own access code. The Common Lisp Development Environment is $22,000 and $1,100 a month, the Application Environment is $10,000 and $599 a month. They join the Expert System Development Environment, $42,500 and $2,360 a month, and the Expert System Consultation Environment, $7,500 and $415 a month. US ships are set for March. In each case, both parts of the system are required for development, while only the latter part is needed for delivery.
