IBM has added a new band printer, the 6252 Impactwriter, which has a 48-character band and runs at up to 800 lpm. An exclusive right-to-left paper path design enables all operator jobs and maintenance to be completed from the front of the printer, and it saves over 40 square feet of floor space compared with the IBM 3262 and 5262, and is designed as both a system and shared workstation printer, for System/390, AS/400 and RS/6000, and alien machines. It comes in five models – the T08 for AS/400, the D08 for 9370s and 3174 and 3274 controllers, the AS8 and AP8 for personal computers and RS/6000l and the P08 with Dataproducts parallel interface. The As and P are $9,950, T08, $11,950, the D08, $12,450, from April.
