For its part, IBM has been keeping an evaluatory eye on things with the introduction of a computerised data registration system based on hand-held laser guns: pioneered by IBM agents and exhibitors, CMA-Ettworth, the X-ID system is based on a System 38, which enables exhibitors to down-load and print out information at the end of the day;in addition, resgistered attendees are provided with a bar-coded badge which, when scanned with a light pen, allows exhibitors to record the visitor’s name, company and interests in a matter of seconds.
