IBM has received a new ten-year, multi-million dollar data centre services contract from Petrom, an oil and gas producer in Southeastern Europe.

Under the agreement, IBM will provide data centre services including: cloud computing, hosting, installation and co-location services, and on-site backup and disaster recovery capabilities.

In addition, IBM will take over the operation of Petrom’s data centre infrastructure to provide services to Petrom; Osterreichische Mineralolverwaltung (OMV), an oil and gas exploration and production company; as well as other Romanian clients.

IBM Romania country general manager Mihai Tudor said, that the agreement will enable Petrom to reduce its data centre operation costs, while enabling IBM to provide customers with a full suite of services from a robust facility in a timely and cost-effective manner.
