IBM unveils new server products

The new server products will help data centre managers implement and manage new and existing workloads

Technology and consulting firm IBM has introduced new server applications that will offer x86 clients and data centre managers speed, performance and flexibility they need to implement and manage new and existing workloads.

The new products round out the portfolios of x86 offerings which comes with energy efficient blade server with networking flexibility and a rack system that bridges the gap between traditional two-processor servers and four-processor systems for handling high-performance computing and database-intensive applications.

IBM also unveiled several new entry systems to perform small-to-mid-size infrastructure workloads.

The offering includes BladeCenter HS23E, IBM System x3750, IBM System x3630 M4 and x3530 M4, and Flex System x220.

BladeCenter HS23E is a blade server designed for small to mid-sized organisations, offering networking flexibility with built-in support for multiple networking technologies. It includes up to eight networking ports of Ethernet and other advanced networking protocols.

IBM System x3750 is a four processor application that is created for technical computing and other floating-point intensive workloads.

The x3750 offers IBM eXFlash storage technology and ‘pay-as-you-grow’ compute capability to clients who are outgrowing their dual processor systems and need faster database performance, and the ability to manage data volumes to gain business insights in less time.

x3630 M4 is designed for cloud and department-level virtualisation, virtual storage, and database workloads. x3530 M4 is a new dual-processor system that is well suited for financial applications, web services, retail point-of-sale, and network infrastructure workloads.

Flex System x220 is entry-level compute node that expands the flexibility and choice of compute options for IBM Pure Systems family of expert integrated systems.

Its advanced management capabilities offer clients with real-time system and workload management capabilities.
