IBM has unveiled a new analytics appliance that the company says allows organisations to analyse up to 10 petabytes of data in a matter of minutes.

IBM claims that the new IBM Netezza High Capacity Appliance is designed to enable organisations uncover patterns and trends from large data sets while meeting compliance requirements.

The new technology allows businesses to go through and analyse petabytes of data including banking and mobile phone transactions, insurance claims, electronic medical records and sales information to reveal new trends on consumer sentiment, product safety, and sales and marketing effectiveness.

IBM Netezza appliances are workload optimised systems based on IBM BladeCenter technology, and can be up and running in 24 hours.

As part of Big Data analytics portfolio expansion, IBM delivered the appliance as the first Netezza appliance since it acquired Netezza in November 2010.
