IBM to provide IT infrastructure services to Bank of Ireland

Desktop systems, servers, mainframes, local area networks and service desk

By CBR Staff Writer

IBM has signed a five-year IT infrastructure services agreement with Bank of Ireland. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

Under the agreement, IBM will provide the entire IT infrastructure, including desktop systems, servers, mainframes, local area networks and service desk at Bank of Ireland.

IBM Ireland country general manager Peter O’Neill said the company offers an outstanding value proposition to clients like Bank of Ireland by bringing extensive experience in service delivery across the enterprise supported by world class delivery capabilities and ongoing process and technology investments.

Bank of Ireland head of group IT and chief technology officer Larry Kiernan said the signing of this contract marks the culmination of a lengthy process, during which Bank of Ireland assessed a number of potential service providers.

"We have now agreed a group-wide offering for the provision of our IT infrastructure services and, under this agreement, will have access to a wide range of innovative IT offerings and we will continue to work closely with our existing provider, HP to ensure a smooth transition to IBM," Kiernan said.
