IBM has launched its Watson artificial intelligence technology as a development platform in the cloud, which will allow other software developers to develop new apps leveraging cognitive computing intelligence.
According to the US tech firm, the latest move also paves the way for development of latest online services that can react to their clients in natural and smart manners, as well transforming the decision making capabilities of businesses and consumers.
IBM Watson Developers Cloud, which incorporates a developer toolkit, educational materials and access to Watson’s application programming interface (API), allows application providers of all ranges and industries to plug into resources and allows development of Watson-powered apps.
IBM Software Solutions Group senior vice president Michael Rhodin said that by sharing IBM Watson’s cognitive abilities with the world, the company aims to fuel a new ecosystem that accelerates innovation, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
"With this move, IBM is taking a bold step to advance the new era of cognitive computing," Rhodin said.
"Together with our partners we’ll spark a new class of applications that will learn from experience, improve with each interaction and outcome, and assist in solving the most complex questions facing the industry and society."
IBM also launched a new ecosystem vision together with three business partners including Fluid, MD Buyline and Welltok, who had developed preliminary version of Watson-powered apps, which are anticipated to hit the market next year.
The tech firm will also connect its app-building partners with skilled experts, who will assist in advancing their imaginative visions into market-ready products and services.
