Placerville, California-based Ibex Technologies Inc has been retained by Microsoft Corp to do software that will enable delivery of data files to anyone with Microsoft At Work facsimile software and a Class I facsimile modem: the Microsoft At Work software will be included in the Chicago version of Windows and users will be able to call any Ibex FactsLine system that includes FileBack, which supports Microsoft At Work’s binary file transfer protocol, request a file via their touchtone telephone keypad, enter the number of their facsimile modem and have the data files delivered to them immediately; the idea is to combine the ease of use of facsimile-on-demand with the functions of bulletin board systems; callers using an Ibex FactsLine system with FileBack will still be able to have fax images sent to any fax machine.
