IANA PLAN STILL NOT ARRIVED AT DEPT OF COMMERCE

By CBR Staff Writer

As of 6pm eastern time last night, the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) had still not submitted its plan for the new corporation to manage the domain name system to the Department of Commerce. The government had expected the plan by yesterday morning, It may have received it after we went to press, if so it will be up at https://www.ntia.doc.gov. Once the plan has been received a ten day public comment will start. Commerce says it is not planning any sort of announcement about the new plan, which would seem to be useful to encourage public comments (10/01/98).
