We hear the results of the negotiations between the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) and Network Solutions Inc (NSI) are to be released overnight, probably on the IANA web site ( The two began discussions around the end of August after finding some common ground between their two proposals to form the non-profit entity to run the domain name system (DNS). That news led to the cancellation of the final; public meeting of the International Forum on the White Paper (IFWP). There is a replacement meeting this weekend in Boston (September 19-20) but attendance looks like being pretty thin (09/14/98). The deadline for any submission to the government is the end of the month.
