Variety, the cheerfully outrageous US showbiz weekly has a lot to answer for – including the style of Minigrams in Computergram and one Varietyism that Electronic News has latched onto to the point of addiction is the word say in headlines to stories that are unconfirmed by the principals involved (as in Say Liz, 50, Infanticipating), but this week’s issue of the US trade weekly takes the whole thing right over the top: at the bottom of two front page stories that turn inside the paper are the tags see ‘say’, page 8, and see ‘say’, page 13.
